Major drone attack on Russia – refineries and “Russian Amazon” hit

Ukraine has carried out a major drone attack on targets on Russian territory, hitting oil refineries and logistics centers of the major online commerce company Wildberries, which is often described as the “Russian Amazon”. The attacks reportedly caused fires in several areas of Russia, with energy and logistics infrastructure being the main targets.

Footage posted on social media showed large plumes of smoke and fires in some of the locations hit. Among the targets of the attack was a distribution center of Wildberries, one of the largest e-commerce platforms in Russia. The company plays an important role in the Russian economy and controls a large share of the domestic online shopping market.

Russian authorities have stated that air defenses have shot down a large number of Ukrainian drones, while they did not immediately provide full details of the damage. Ukraine does not usually confirm every operation, but has previously acknowledged that strikes on energy and logistics facilities in Russia are part of its military strategy.
