Nathan Thomas from the United States has been declared by Guinness World Records as the youngest male professor in history, after receiving the title at the age of 18 years and 346 days. Thomas began teaching at Miami Dade College in August 2023, where he taught an engineering and programming course to students who were in many cases almost the same age as him.
With this achievement, he broke the record held for more than three centuries by Scottish mathematician Colin Maclaurin, who had become a professor at the age of 19 in 1717, UPI reports. Thomas’ academic career was exceptional from an early age.
He enrolled in college at the age of 10, and by the age of 18, he had completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering, with excellent results. Despite his young age, Thomas says that in class he focuses on work and helping students, emphasizing that age is not the main factor when the goal is to learn.
Currently, he continues to teach online and is simultaneously pursuing law studies at the University of Miami, with the aim of working in the field of intellectual property and technology in the future. /Telegraph
