French media outlet L’Express has published a ranking of the most powerful intelligence agencies in Europe, with the British MI6 service at the top of the list, with a total of 251 points. According to this ranking, France’s DGSE is in second place with 169 points, while the Netherlands’ AIVD is in third place with 97 points.
The two Ukrainian services, SBU and HUR, are ranked together in fourth position, with 77 points, while the German service BND is in fifth place with 62 points. Also included among the ten most highly rated European services are intelligence agencies from Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Poland and Denmark.
According to L’Express, this list was prepared by a jury of 60 international intelligence professionals, who rated five foreign services each, giving five points for the best service to one point for the fifth. The rating was based mainly on the efficiency and reliability of these institutions.
After the top ten, the list also includes intelligence services from Romania, Spain, Finland, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Portugal, Austria and Latvia. /Telegraph
