The Minister of Human and Minority Rights in Montenegro, Fatmir Gjeka, has explained three reasons, according to him, that lie behind the approach of Serbia and President Aleksandar Vučić towards Montenegro.
In an interview with ETV , Gjeka said that the first reason is related to the Serbian leadership’s attempt to shift attention from internal political problems and the challenges facing Serbia itself.
As a second reason, he mentioned efforts to slow down or hinder Montenegro’s path towards integration into the European Union, while the third reason, according to him, is related to the influence and radicalization of the Serbian community in Montenegro. “Official Belgrade is not managing to impose its policy in any of these directions,” said Gjeka.
Asked whether Montenegro can withstand such pressures and influences, the minister said he is convinced that this is possible. “I’m convinced that it is. Now it is our ally. I’m not sure the same can be said when it comes to the regime in Belgrade,” he declared. /Telegraph
