Ukrainian drones struck an oil terminal in the Port of St. Petersburg overnight, causing powerful explosions and a large fire that engulfed parts of the area’s energy infrastructure. According to initial reports, the attack caused significant material damage and temporarily disrupted activity at one of the region’s strategic oil supply points.
This incident comes in a series of repeated attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, particularly oil refineries and fuel depots, which have become regular targets of Ukrainian drones in recent months. Authorities in Russia have previously reported damage to several similar facilities, including refineries in the south and west of the country, which has reduced oil processing capacity.

Temporary gasoline shortages have also been reported in some areas, while authorities have imposed partial restrictions on fuel sales to stabilize the situation. Analysts point out that oil refineries and terminals constitute a key part of the Russian economy, being the main source of export revenue and a crucial element of domestic supply.
Any disruption at these facilities has a direct impact not only on the domestic economy, but also on international energy markets. Meanwhile, Russian authorities have not yet provided a full assessment of the damage caused to the Port of St. Petersburg, but have confirmed that emergency teams are engaged in extinguishing the fire and assessing the situation on the ground.
The attack is expected to further increase concerns about the security of the country’s energy infrastructure and the continuity of fuel supplies in the coming period. /Telegraph
