Former Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jassim has purchased a villa in Sardinia that previously belonged to former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. According to reports from the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the property was sold for 350 million euros, Reuters writes.

The Villa “Certosa”, known as Berlusconi’s unofficial summer residence, has been in the spotlight due to the organization of so-called “bunga bunga” parties, which have caused major political and judicial scandals in Italy. Berlusconi had faced charges of prostitution with minors, while he was later acquitted of charges of corruption and abuse of office.

The buyer of the property is registered in Luxembourg, but Italian media link him to the Al Thani family, which has ruled Qatar for more than a century and a half. The sale of the villa is expected to help improve the financial situation of Berlusconi’s heirs, who since 2023 have been trying to fulfill the obligations set out in his will.
