Turkish defense technology company Baykar has successfully conducted a new test of its combat drone system, simultaneously flying 10 K2 Kamikaze UAVs in an autonomous mission with coordinated formation.
According to published data, the test has proven the ability of drones to operate as a joint “swarm”, communicating and moving in a synchronized manner without constant control from human operators. The K2 Kamikaze drone is designed as an attack vehicle with advanced capabilities.
It has a maximum take-off weight of 800 kilograms and can carry a warhead weighing over 200 kilograms, media reports. According to the published specifications, the K2 has a range of more than 2,000 kilometers and can stay in the air for over 13 hours, ranking it among the most advanced drone systems of its type.
The development of autonomous drone swarm technology is being seen as one of the main directions of modern warfare, as it allows the use of a large number of aerial vehicles that can operate together, analyze the situation, and carry out coordinated missions.
Baykar’s latest test comes at a time when Turkey is rapidly expanding its defense industry and investing in autonomous aerial systems with advanced attack and reconnaissance capabilities. /Telegraph
